Watercolour Painting

Representation

Fine Motor Skills

This activity exercises fine motor skills because children hold on to thin cotton swabs, using them as paint brushes and are provided with the opportunity to represent their creative expressions by using watercolour paints to paint whatever they would like on a blank sheet of paper.

This activity is successful because it helps to identify children's individual differences in their cognitive development. The children represent their ideas in very different ways.

To practice sharing materials, I encourage you to place one tray of paints in-between two children.

How was it made?

Place different colours of watercolours in ice cube trays or paint pallets. Provide cotton swabs for the children to use as paint brushes.

Tape down thick art paper or watercolour specific paper to the table.
