About Me

Gillian Rossi
I was born and raised in Mississauga, ON and decided to attend Ryerson University for my undergraduate degree after completing an extra semester of high school. During grade 13, I chose to take a co-op course where I was placed at St.Christopher's Elementary School in Ontario. I gained valuable experience in a kindergarten classroom and a grade 2/3 split classroom which enabled me to decide on pursuing future aspirations in the teaching field. I have been very active in sports every since I started playing soccer at six years old. I have played university level soccer for five years and have also played many other sports in high school including flag football, softball, badminton, volleyball and basketball. I value physical activity in children's lives, and place importance on exploring the natural beauty of the outdoors with a similar philosophy to the Reggio Amelia approach.

I have been engaged with valuable learning experiences through travel over the last few years. I have travelled to Poland for World Youth Day 2016, humanitarian trips in Peru, Cambodia and Ghana, volunteered on Moose Cree First Nations reserve on the James Bay Region in Ontario and travelled to Mexico and Panama for Christian sport ministry. All my experiences travelling affect the perspective in how I see the world and teach.
.
I hope my teaching portfolio provides you more insight to my teaching philosophy, as well as activities I have done in the classroom and other elements that inspire me as an educator.
