1. Can we build a bridge to help the Gingerbread man get across the river?

STEM projects showcase the integration of science, technology, engineering and/or math. This specific project also integrated literacy with the story text. This project of building a bridge for the Gingerbread man paved way for a process in which students needed to work together, plan their designs and organize the materials and test out their structures multiple times before being successful. This activity was done with a grade 3 class.

Professional Growth Target
I aim to integrate the technology piece into other STEM projects with the use of Chromebooks in the classroom.

1. Can you build a house for the 3 little pigs?

This STEM activity is an extension from the book "The Three Little Pigs". After reading the original folktale and comparing it to the newer story version "The True Story of the Three Little Pigs!" by Jon Scieszka, students were challenged to build a house structure that would withstand the wolf's blow/sneeze. Students were engaged in the planning, building, and testing process.
