Classroom Environment

1. Flexible Seating

To create a safe and inclusive classroom, it is important to have flexible seating. Flexible seating helps kids to move and stay focused. They are able to wobble, rock, bounce, lean, and move however they need to in order to stay on task and be productive in the classroom. Every student has different needs and flexible seating is one strategy that will benefit all students. I saw this first hand in my teaching practicums.

Examples of flexible seating in the classroom:

Professional Growth Target
To fill my classroom with a variety of seating options including stability/exercise balls, rocking chairs, wobble cushions, elastic bands, and provide choice for students to work on the floor for independent and partner activities.
