This professional development taught me about the history of Indigenous peoples in Nova Scotia, the purpose of treaty education and how I, as an educator, can advocate for treaty education in all schools.
Understanding and Engaging Inuit Students
This certificate reflects what I learned about the unique challenges Inuit students face and how generational trauma effects their schooling. I learned a lot about how to find student's interests and engage them with meaningful projects.

Both Positive Space Training sessions taught me many valuable skills to help create a more caring, safe and inclusive environment for studnets in the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. In addition, I learned how to become an advocate and ally for those in the community.
Teacher Training in the Code Create Teach program from Kids Code Jeunesse
This professional development sessions provided hands-on learning experience to gain understanding of coding technologies and how it is a valuable tool to bring coding into the classroom. Technology will undoubtedly be a big part of students' futures and learning how to implement coding in the classroom will help students gain the knowledge to navigate these technologies.
Running Records
This session gave me valuable practice in conducting running records for various reading levels and ages. This practice was extremely valuable and being provided with online resources that can help me to continue practice, will be very valuable assessment strategy in the classroom.
Elementary Assessment
Assessment is key in deciding where learning is headed and what students need. This professional development session helped to align curriculum with assessment. It was also emphasized that there are a multitude of different ways assessment can be done, both formative and summative.
Peace Education and Conflict Management
This professional development keynote taught me how to create classrooms of peace and how to use peace education to solve conflict in the classroom.
